Requirements for Artificial Insemination Using Semen Which is Not Stored or Transported

Semen may be artificially placed within a mare and the resulting foal may be eligible for registration under Section 1 of this Rule if the following requirements are met:

a) Semen must be collected from the stallion and inseminated into the mare on the same premises. For the purpose of this Rule, "premises" is defined as the farm or facility where the stallion and mare are both present at the time of collection.

b) Semen must be used within 72 hours of collection.

c) Semen may not be frozen.

Semen that is frozen, not used within 72 hours of collection, or is transported by any means to a location other than the premises where the collection of the stallion occurred will be subject to Section 5 of this Rule.
